Barbara Sockwell is a native Texan and new resident to Midland. Dallas was her home but her fiance, Charles Noll, konked her on the head and dragged her to this place six months ago. She vaguely remembers owning a tile business, painting decorative tile murals, going to NTSU, and taking several art classes from various talented people. Although her memory is not what it used to be, she still recalls being a child and occasionally going to work with her dad, a commercial artist, and sitting at a vacant drawing table making "doodles" and "coloring in" the shapes. Barbara said she thought her mom used to oil paint occasionally and that her grandmother loved oil painting bluebonnet landscapes as well.

Upon realization of her fate in West Texas, Barbara has decided to make the best of it and she even sort of likes Midland now. She is currently taking oil painting classes from Warren Taylor at Midland College, has joined The Palette Club of Midland, showing some work at Cigar Frog's, and is enjoying meeting interesting new friends. Life is GOOD! "Thank you God for Midland; it could have been Andrews!"
